Equality Policy

Laois Cricket Club (Laois CC) has adopted this policy to prevent / tackle any potential / current discrimination or other unfair treatment, whether intentional or unintentional, direct or indirect against members or visitors to our club.

Statement of commitment.

This club is fully committed to the principles of equality and is responsible for ensuring that no member or intending or guest receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of age, gender, disability, race/nationality/colour, marital or civil partnership status, religion / belief, class or social background, sexual orientation or membership of the Travelling Community.

  • The club will endeavour to provide access to all who wish to become involved in cricket.
  • The club will take or support positive action to eliminate discrimination.
  • The club respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat everyone equality.
  • The club is committed to everyone having a right to enjoy cricket in an environment free from the threat of intimidation, victimisation, harassment or abuse.
  • All club members have a responsibility to promote equality.

The club regards any incidents of discriminatory behaviour as serious misconduct.

Action

An action plan has been developed to ensure that the commitments made in this policy are delivered. It will be reviewed and updated if necessary, annually.

Equal Status Acts, 2000-2015.

Communication and responsibility

  • The committee will receive regular updates on the implementation of the equality policy.
  • The club will ensure that it has in place a person responsible for coordinating work to embed Equality within the club.
  • The club will appoint a member of the executive to sponsor equality at executive level

All employees and members have responsibilities to respect and act in accordance with the spirit and intentions of the policy.

Complaints

The club is opposed to all forms of unlawful discrimination. It regards harassment, bullying, victimisation, intimidation and bullying as serious misconduct. Allegations of misconduct in relation to the above will be investigated in accordance with the club’s complaints procedures.

Implementation

Implementation of the equality policy will be monitored by the club chairperson. The policy will be communicated as follows;

  1. A copy of this document will be uploaded to the clubs website.

  2. The document will be displayed in a prominent position in the club house

  3. The document will be discussed as part of the open evening

  4. A mechanism will be put in place to enable club members to be part of the consultation process when reviewing this policy document.

Monitoring and evaluation

An annual monitoring policy will be produced by the executive. This report is to be made available to all club members.
